FFP stands for &#8220;<strong>Filtering Face Piece<\/strong>.&#8221; These masks are a type of&nbsp;<strong>respirator<\/strong>. A&nbsp;<strong>respirator<\/strong>&nbsp;is designed to protect you from breathing in harmful things in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These masks are tested using rules set in Europe, called\u00a0<strong>EN 149<\/strong>. This rule makes sure the masks work well. There are three main levels:\u00a0<strong>FFP1<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>FFP2<\/strong>, \u0438\u00a0<strong>FFP3<\/strong>. It covers your nose and mouth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It cleans the air you breathe in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These are\u00a0<strong>\u043e\u0434\u043d\u043e\u0440\u0430\u0437\u043e\u0432\u044b\u0435 \u043c\u0430\u0441\u043a\u0438<\/strong>. This means you usually use them once, or for a short time, and then throw them away. They are not meant to be washed and reused like cloth masks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0421\u0430\u0439\u0442&nbsp;<strong>EN 149<\/strong>&nbsp;standard checks two main things for these masks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Filtering Efficiency<\/strong>: How much stuff (like dust, smoke, or tiny drops called aerosols) the mask material can stop. This is shown as a percentage (%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Total Inward Leakage (TIL)<\/strong>: How much air can leak in around the edges of the mask when you wear it. A good fit is very important to keep this leakage low.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"-the-three-levels-of-protection-ffp1-ffp2-ffp3-\"><strong>The Three Levels of Protection: FFP1, FFP2, FFP3<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The main difference between&nbsp;<strong>FFP1<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>FFP2<\/strong>, \u0438&nbsp;<strong>\u041c\u0430\u0441\u043a\u0438 FFP3<\/strong>&nbsp;is how well they filter the air and how much leakage they allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"-ffp1-masks-\"><strong>FFP1 Masks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Filter Level<\/strong>: Filters\u00a0<strong>at least 80%<\/strong>\u00a0of tiny particles in the air.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leakage<\/strong>: Allows\u00a0<strong>maximum 22%<\/strong>\u00a0leakage inside the mask.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protection Against<\/strong>: Non-toxic dust and water-based aerosols (tiny drops). They protect mostly against larger particles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u041e\u0431\u0449\u0435\u0435 \u0438\u0441\u043f\u043e\u043b\u044c\u0437\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General construction work (like sanding plaster by hand).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farming (handling hay).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food processing jobs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic DIY tasks at home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes used as a simple\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/med-disposable.com\/ru\/%d0%bf%d1%80%d0%be%d0%b4%d1%83%d0%ba%d1%82\/disposable-dust-mask\/\">disposable dust mask<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u041c\u0430\u0441\u043a\u0438 FFP1<\/strong>&nbsp;offer the lowest level of&nbsp;<strong>respirator<\/strong>&nbsp;protection in this group. They are&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;meant for protection against very fine dust, toxic materials, or viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"-ffp2-masks-\"><strong>FFP2 Masks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Filter Level<\/strong>: Filters\u00a0<strong>at least 94%<\/strong>\u00a0of tiny particles in the air. This includes fine dust, oil-based aerosols, and water-based aerosols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leakage<\/strong>: Allows\u00a0<strong>maximum 8%<\/strong>\u00a0leakage inside the mask.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protection Against<\/strong>: Moderate levels of dust, solid and liquid aerosols. They are often required in workplaces where people might breathe in harmful dust or aerosols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"-ffp3-masks-\"><strong>FFP3 Masks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Filter Level<\/strong>: Filters\u00a0<strong>at least 99%<\/strong>\u00a0of tiny particles in the air. This is the highest level of filtration for FFP masks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leakage<\/strong>: Allows\u00a0<strong>maximum 2%<\/strong>\u00a0leakage inside the mask. This is an&nbsp;<strong>exhalation valve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Masks WITH a Valve<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make it easier to breathe out. Warm, moist air goes out through the valve.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can feel more comfortable, especially if worn for a long time or during hard work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Important<\/strong>: The air you breathe out is\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0filtered by the valve. If you are sick (like with a cold or flu), a valved mask does\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0protect others from your germs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Masks WITHOUT a Valve (Non-Valved)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Filter the air you breathe\u00a0<strong>in<\/strong>\u00a0AND the air you breathe\u00a0<strong>out<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Protect the wearer and also help protect people around the wearer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can feel warmer or more stuffy inside than valved masks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Often required in\u00a0<strong>\u0431\u043e\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u0446\u044b<\/strong>\u00a0or places where you need to protect others, not just yourself. Many standard\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/med-disposable.com\/ru\/%d0%bf%d1%80%d0%be%d0%b4%d1%83%d0%ba%d1%82\/disposable-medical-face-mask-en14683-standard\/\">disposable medical face masks<\/a>\u00a0are non-valved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The choice between a valved or non-valved mask depends on why you need it. If you need to protect others, choose a non-valved mask. There should be a tight seal all around the edges. If there are gaps, dirty air can leak in, and you won&#8217;t get the full protection level (FFP1, FFP2, or FFP3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Follow Instructions<\/strong>: Always read how to put the mask on correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nose Clip<\/strong>: Most FFP masks have a metal strip at the top.
