Are disposable wipes safe to flush

It is not safe to flush most disposable wipes down the toilet. Why is this?

  • Wipes do not break down easily like toilet paper does.
  • Flushing them can clog the pipes in your house.
  • They can also cause big backups in the town or city sewer lines.

Even wipes that say “flushable” on the package can still cause these problems. Fixing clogs can be messy and cost a lot of money.

The best rule? Always throw all used wipes in the trash can. Only toilet paper should ever be flushed down the toilet.
